Fire Sprinkler Service Technician
Position Summary
The Fire Sprinkler Service Technician is responsible for performing service, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on various fire sprinkler and suppression systems. This role ensures that client life safety systems operate reliably and remain fully compliant with NFPA standards, state/local codes, and company safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Field Service & Technical Execution
Maintenance & Repairs: Troubleshoot, repair, and service wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and standpipe systems, as well as backflow preventers and fire pumps.
System Testing & Inspection: Perform routine testing, trip-testing of dry valves, flow tests, and main drain tests in accordance with NFPA 25 standards.
Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to emergency service requests, system leaks, or alarm trips.
Deficiency Identification: Inspect systems to identify deficiencies, code non-conformance, or wear, and communicate recommended corrective actions to the service manager and client.
Documentation & Customer Relations
Detailed Reporting: Complete and submit accurate, detailed digital service tickets, inspection reports, and deficiency logs in a timely manner.
Client Communication: Serve as the primary on-site technical contact, explaining repairs, answering code questions, and upholding a professional customer experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience & Credentials
Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on experience servicing or installing water-based fire sprinkler systems.
Certifications: NICET Level II in Water-Based Systems Inspection/Testing or relevant state journey-level sprinkler fitter license preferred.
Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Technical & Physical Skills
Code Knowledge: In-depth working knowledge of NFPA standards (specifically NFPA 13, 25, and 72) and local AHJ requirements.
Mechanical Aptitude: Strong troubleshooting capabilities using pipe threaders, hand/power tools, and pressure gauges.
Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50–70 lbs, work on ladders/scaffolding/lifts at elevated heights, and work in confined spaces.
